It’s not looking good initially.
They let some key guys go in the past couple of days. I don’t know what their plan is but it doesn’t look like they’re trying to win in 2026. Pete Alonso, who wanted to remain a Met, signed with the Baltimore Orioles; Edwin Diaz, their renowned closer, went to the refining champion, LA Dodgers, and they traded Brandon Nimmo to the Texas Rangers.
What message is the front office giving to their fan base? It does not seem confident about aspiring for the World Series trophy. It’s puzzling because last year they got Juan Soto who has been worth it coming off his first season with the team.
Now what’s the plan? What does the front office want to do to improve their roster? Is that even the goal at this point?
