List the people you admire and look to for advice…
I have a few podcasts that are spiritual in essence where I get advisement and teaching. These are people I admire for their faith and their testimony. Their podcasts are top notch. And their literature is good as well.
Kenneth Copeland
Andrew Wommack
Terri Savelle Foy
Jerry Savelle
Wallbuilders (Rick Green and David Barton)
There are other folks that I know personally who I respect and admire. I’ll list by first name.
As an (natural born) American citizen, I have a right and responsibility to vote in political elections. Over the past years, I have grown to appreciate the system of government that we have in these United States. This is a unique experiment in governance that is still going after almost 248 years.
It is incumbent on us, the current generation, to always vote. That is how we preserve our system of a democratic republic, which I believe is divinely ordained.
The rights that we have in this country come from God. And in the same vein, it is our responsibility to preserve them. I always vote in every election, including primaries, because not voting is also a vote; however, it is a vote in the wrong direction.
I have never been camping overnight. Been on a day deer hunt where I’ve had to “camp out” while waiting for the prey to come around but nothing more prolonged than that.
Do you have a quote you live your life by or think of often?
“For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” James 2:26 KJV
Doers do and that’s why they’re successful. I’ve been thinking about this passage quite a bit lately. I need this to be my way of life but I struggle with consistency.
Thank you, God, for the ability to have new beginnings. It’s a new day and a new month.
What is your favorite holiday? Why is it your favorite?
My favorite used to be Christmas. Growing up I would always enjoy all the gifts that I received. Even though we were celebrating the birth of the Lord Jesus, it felt like it was my birthday. I normally had off from school, and I could spend time being coddled by my parents on that blessed day.
As I became older, however, things changed. I became more responsible for my own welfare. I started going to class at college, working for myself, and developing a closer spiritual relationship with God.
Also, I experienced losses throughout those years. Some were the results of my own decisions. Others, I had no part of the cause.
“in every situation [no matter what the circumstances] be thankful and continually give thanks to God; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18 AMP
For things that didn’t happen to cause a loss, I became thankful. For the good that happened in my life, I became thankful. I learned that being thankful is an essential part of being a Christian.
So, now, back to the prompt. Thanksgiving is now my favorite holiday. I get to rejoice and give thanks for all the good that God has done. Once I got out of my selfish mindset, being aware of others and how I can help them, my mindset flipped. I became aware that God is good to me and I can be good to others.
What makes me nervous is not having enough time to do everything that God has placed in my heart. Sometimes I wish that I was more diligent and proactive with my time.
The favorite sport to watch and play is basketball. Basketball at a high-level is one of the most entertaining sports to watch. The athleticism required to succeed at that level (NBA, Europe, and Division I) is tremendous. This is not including the intelligence and craftsmanship that comes with playing for so long successfully.
Playing basketball also brings great satisfaction. As I stated earlier it takes a great amount of athleticism to succeed at the sport. It’s a great for cardio and also it requires strength and skill in the spatial realm. Basketball helps with coordination and also stamina.
Basketball is one of those rare sports where I find great joy in watching and playing.
I hope to be in a better situation mentally, relationally, spiritually, and financially. This is probably a common answer; I don’t need to go into specifics at this time. Nonetheless, it is a dream of mine to be in a better place so that I can help more people.
