  • Verse of the Day

“I passed by the field of a sluggard, by the vineyard of one who lacks wisdom. I saw that thorns had grown up all over it, the ground was covered with weeds, and its stone wall was broken down. When I saw this, I gave careful consideration to it; I received instruction from what I saw: “A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to relax, and your poverty will come like a bandit, and your need like an armed robber.””
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭24‬:‭30‬-‭34‬ ‭NET‬‬

There’s a time to rest but there’s a time to be diligent. Taking time off to relax and not delaying gratification excessively will result in short-term pleasure, but will lead to long-term lack. There’s a balance that must be sought and only God can enlighten that balance for each individual.

What principles define how you live?

I try to live my life as close as I can, to my understanding of the Bible. Without it, my life would be in much worse shape. There are so many principles, but I will be more selective for the purpose of this blog post.

The principles taken from the book of Proverbs are the ones that have had the most profound impact. Solomon was the richest man to ever live, so he must know something about life and how to be good at it (despite his flaws).

Let’s take for example this one:

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he…

This infers that your thoughts have the power to manifest your external world. Or put another way, your present circumstances are determined by the thoughts you previously had.

There are a myriad of other proverbs from that book. They articulate profound principles and are worth reading. There are 31 chapters in the book so you can go through the entire book by doing a chapter a day. It will do wonders for your mindset.

  • Verse of the Day

“If you faint in the day of adversity, Your strength is small.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭24‬:‭10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Powerful verse. To me, this indicates that you must fortify yourself in advance of persecution. The godly in Christ will suffer it (2 Timothy 3:12). There is no way around it. The Holy Spirit will prepare us to withstand. We must be faithful to what He tells us because He will teach us all things and will show us things to come. (John 14:26, 16:13).

    Proverbs 13:20

Make sure you know who you are spending your time with. It’s so important that you don’t waste time.

  • Fear of Human Opinion

The fear of human opinion disables; trusting in God protects you from that.”

  • Perspective

“For the despondent, every day brings trouble; for the happy heart, life is a continual feast.”

    Proverbs‬ ‭15‬:‭15‬ ‭NLT‬‬

It’s all about the state of your heart. This is where all the issues of life start.

What book could you read over and over again?

I would say the Bible particularly the book of Proverbs. It’s only 31 chapters so one could read a chapter that corresponds to that day of month. (E.g., read chapter 11 on 4/11.). There’s a lot of wisdom in that book and it was mostly written by the richest man that ever lived, King Solomon.
