    Cling to God’s Promises

    What do you think about?

The thoughts that fill your mind are crucial because what you cling to influences your worldview.

If you choose to dwell on God’s promises, you start to recognize God’s blessings during uncertain times. Trusting that God will redeem your present pain equips you to walk forward in faith and keep on fighting.

Isaiah 12:2 reminds us that we belong to a God who is faithful to keep His promises. This God rescues us and fights for us. So when we belong to God, we have nothing to fear—all we need to do is cling to Him and wait on Him to act.

So as you walk forward today, reflect on some of God’s promises, and let them transform the way you think:

God will sustain you. (Psalm 55:22)

God’s peace will guard your heart. (Philippians 4:7)

God delights over you with singing. (Zephaniah 3:17)

God will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go. (Psalm 32:8)

God is your refuge and strength, your help in times of need. (Psalm 46:1)

In all things, you are more than a conqueror because God loves you. (Romans 8:37)

God will never leave you or forsake you. (Deuteronomy 31:6)

God’s perfect love casts out all your fear. (1 John 4:18)

Nothing can separate you from God’s love. (Romans 8:38-39)

God’s not done with you. (Philippians 1:6)

Allow these truths to fill your mind today!

  • Verse of the Day

“Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.”
    ‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5‬:‭18‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  • Verse of the Day

“For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile.”
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭1‬:‭16‬ ‭NLT‬‬

This is today’s verse of the day in the Bible app. I noticed for the first time that this verse addresses the Jew/Gentile dichotomy. The Gospel is meant to save the Jews first then the Gentiles.

This doesn’t mean that everyone that hears within those two demographics will hear and received the Good News of the Gospel. However, the Jew is supposed to get the revelation first. This means that God is not done with them. I don’t think He ever will. (Jesus, Himself, is a Jew by ethnicity.)

So when people say that God is done with the Jew, or that the Jews are beyond hope because they caused the death of Jesus is rubbish to me. The Jews have always been, and will continue to be,God’s chosen people.

  • Procrastination

    Why Do I Procrastinate?

The Bible says you procrastinate for one of five reasons.

    • Indecision

“A double minded man is unstable in all he does.” (James 1:8 LB) Indecision causes you to postpone buying a car, choosing a college, getting married, buying new clothes, changing a job.

    • Perfectionism

“If you wait for perfect conditions, you’ll never get anything done!” (Ecclesiastes 11:4 LB) If you wait for things to be perfect, you’re going to wait a long time.

    • Fear

“The fear of man is a trap.” (Proverbs 29:25 LB) Have you been postponing going to the dentist? Or getting into marriage counseling? Ask yourself, “What am I afraid of?”

    • Anger

“A lazy person is as bad as someone who is destructive.” (Proverbs 18:9 GNT) Procrastination is passive resistance. I don’t want to do it because I don’t like you telling me to do what I have to do. Anger causes us to put things off.

    • Laziness

“Lazy people want much but get little, while the diligent are prospering.” (Proverbs 13:4 LB) One of the most popular words in America is “easy.” If it’s easy, we like it. If it’s hard, we don’t like it.

The next time you find yourself procrastinating, stop and ask yourself why. Then ask God to help you overcome it so you can move forward and do what you need to do.

Taken from Rick Warren’s Daily Devotional – Day 117

  • Verse of the Day

“For the dream comes through much effort, and the voice of the fool through many words.”
    ‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭5‬:‭3‬ ‭AMP‬‬
    https://bible.com/bible/1588/ecc.5.3.AMP

The dream comes with a lot of work. So maybe you’re on the right path if the fulfillment seems tough to do. Just some thoughts.

  • The Daily Prompt – No. 308

Jot down the first thing that comes to your mind.

““‘Yes,’ the king replied, ‘and to those who use well what they are given, even more will be given. But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away.”
    ‭‭Luke‬ ‭19‬:‭26‬ ‭NLT‬‬
    https://bible.com/bible/116/luk.19.26.NLT

Takeaway No. 1: I was reading this just now and I saw that the man who does nothing with whatever talents he has, he will lose and the stuff he has will be taken away from him. Done by force.

I must be resourceful and diligent. Even though I don’t know how things will turn out.m, I must move forward. Yes the gifts and callings of God will never go away, but the prospect of not fulfilling the assignment God gives, is scary.

Please forgive me Lord for not acting more vigorously and stepping out in faith to do what you called me to do.

Takeaway No. 2: How can you read this as a Christian and say that communism (or its intermediate predecessor, socialism) is a godly thing? Jesus explicitly states that people are given different portions according to their talents. And they’ll be rewarded based on the work that they do with it.

With God: Equal opportunities, yes. Equal outcomes? No way, Jose.

  • Verse of the Day

“Farmers who wait for perfect weather never plant. If they watch every cloud, they never harvest.”
    ‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭11‬:‭4‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  • Verse of the Day

“For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.”
    ‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭1‬:‭7‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

  • Verse of the Day

    Happy Resurrection Sunday.

Oh and by the way, He was in the tomb for 3 days prior to this. There was no way He could have died on a Friday, be dead for 3 days, and be made alive again on a Sunday.

Anyway He is risen and alive!

  • Verse of the Day

    Galatians 6:9
“So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.”
    ‭‭Galatians‬ ‭6‬:‭9‬ ‭NLT‬‬
    https://bible.com/bible/116/gal.6.9.NLT

Here’s another verse about not giving up. God knows about our frailties and how we can get so feeble minded. He knows us from start to finish. He has a plan in place for us. If we continue on that plan we will succeed. We must use the faith He’s given us to obey and see the plan through.
