Do you have a quote you live your life by or think of often?
“For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” James 2:26 KJV
Doers do and that’s why they’re successful. I’ve been thinking about this passage quite a bit lately. I need this to be my way of life but I struggle with consistency.
Thank you, God, for the ability to have new beginnings. It’s a new day and a new month.
What is your favorite holiday? Why is it your favorite?
My favorite used to be Christmas. Growing up I would always enjoy all the gifts that I received. Even though we were celebrating the birth of the Lord Jesus, it felt like it was my birthday. I normally had off from school, and I could spend time being coddled by my parents on that blessed day.
As I became older, however, things changed. I became more responsible for my own welfare. I started going to class at college, working for myself, and developing a closer spiritual relationship with God.
Also, I experienced losses throughout those years. Some were the results of my own decisions. Others, I had no part of the cause.
“in every situation [no matter what the circumstances] be thankful and continually give thanks to God; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18 AMP
For things that didn’t happen to cause a loss, I became thankful. For the good that happened in my life, I became thankful. I learned that being thankful is an essential part of being a Christian.
So, now, back to the prompt. Thanksgiving is now my favorite holiday. I get to rejoice and give thanks for all the good that God has done. Once I got out of my selfish mindset, being aware of others and how I can help them, my mindset flipped. I became aware that God is good to me and I can be good to others.
What makes me nervous is not having enough time to do everything that God has placed in my heart. Sometimes I wish that I was more diligent and proactive with my time.
