What color describes your personality and why?

I would say black and neon blue. I consider myself to be an extraverted introvert.  I can thrive in social situations.  I like hanging around large crowds, people watching, and being outgoing.  Also, I tend to stand out because of my height and skin tone. That’s explanation for the neon blue.

However, I tend to be a laid-back dude who’s a homebody. Just plain. As a matter of fact, I am obscure.  Someone who likes to fade into the background like I didnt exist.  Ergo the color black.

What’s your favorite meal to cook and/or eat?

My favorite food is lasagna.  I remember when my dad used to cook it for my sister and me when we were younger.  I was immediately hooked with all the layers of pasta, cheese, sauce, and meat.  The corner pieces with the burned cheese edges were so good.  After writing this prompt I might have to find a pizzeria to get a piece.  (Also,  I became a big fan of the Stouffer’s kind.  Not anymore since it has so much sodium.)

Describe the happiest day in your life.

I think one of those days was when I graduated college.  I didn’t think that it would have happened.

My mom had passed away the year before. I was trying to take care of possessions and the house since there was no one there.  I was supposed to get help in driving up there from an uncle but he had gotten into an accident so he couldn’t make.  A lot of other adverse things that happened then but  I had a good support system ranging from my then-girlfriend, to my buddies from college, and my dad and sis.

Fortunately I was able to finish the job and graduate.   That was one my greatest achievements.

Do you have a memory that’s linked to a smell?

Yeah I do.  There was time when I was younger around 10 or 11 years when my sister and I would stay at our mother’s house during the weekends.  On Saturday nights, I would take the responsibility of cooking dinner for us.  Normally it was Hamburger Helper (Cheeseburger Macaroni flavor) and, boy, that was so good.  The fragrance of cheese and beef coming from that skillet was second to none for me.  I really enjoyed that time to prep and cook.  To see the final product was an amazing feeling.  Eating the final product was even.

Man, those were some good times.

    What fear have you conquered?

I would say it’s being around people and speaking with confidence around them.

I consider myself an introvert.  I like to be by myself and quite frankly I am a homebody.  I don’t even have a television in my apartment and I enjoy reading.  When it comes to being around new people, I get kind of nervous.   Ordinarily I would shy away from those interactions but recently I forced myself to approach people that I don’t know and introduce myself and engage in conversation.  It’s a work in progress.

What is your preferred mode of travel?

Plane. By far and above the other choices. I can cover the most distance in a short amount of time. However, I would ask as a corollary, “Where’s the destination?”

If you had a billion US dollars, how would you spend it?

This reminds me of move Brewster’s Millions with Richard Pryor.

I’d give the first 10% to my church. Secondly I’d like to give the next 10% to charities and other ministries. Then as for the rest of the 80%, I’d use some of it to pay off my pesky student loans. Then I’d invest some into real estate, start ups, and some blue chip companies that I understand (not cryptocurrency).

Honestly then I’d sit on what I’d have left to use towards being a blessing to humanity. How that would go who knows. But that is the short answer. Probably I’ll refine this answer as I think about it some more.

What chore do you find the most challenging to do?

Staying consistent with planning for the next day, seven days, etc.  This has been the bane of my existence for most of my life.

I remember when I was young, my dad would by me a small planner every year to help me keep track of my schedule, numbers, names, etc.  I would use it once or twice but then I would get bored with it and it would gather dust.

As I got older I saw the wisdom behind having that planner.  Keep track of schedules, and deadlines, etc.  However, I couldn’t get behind it.  The planners that I would have gathered dust again!

I have my phone and I’m being conscious of planning and adhering to the plan. I’m looking forward to 2023 being the best year of my life.  That will include being intentional. I can not do that without making a plan, and sticking to it.

    How do you define success?

This is such an subjective topic.  I would ordinarily refer to “success” in terms of wealth and prestige especially the way our world works now.  But I believe that we are spiritual beings at our core, so success indicates that you have a relationship with God.  Once that fundamental aspect is addressed then all the other stuff can be taken care of.

PS:  There were a lot of good responses on this thread.  Check them out as well.

Has a book changed your life?

Absolutely. Yes.  100% Yes. Without a doubt, the Bible.  As a believer, it has helped me spiritually, mentally, financially, you name it.  I’m so grateful to God for what He’s revealed to me through it.  It has kept me grounded in a sense that it revealed that:  there’s a God who loves me; I am created in His image; and I have a purpose and plan in this life.

Also , has helped shaped my worldview in many facets of life, especially when it comes to politics.  Matter of fact if it wasn’t for the Bible, I definitely wouldn’t lean the way I do.  Alas, I gotta let the Bible be my guide.
