The New York Mets (or “Metropolitans” as Steve Somers used to call them) are my favorite baseball team. I have been a fan a long time. Actually, I am a fan of all the New York sports teams. I became a more of a Mets fan because they play in the National League. (I didn’t like teams that played in the American League because I thought that it was unfair to the teams in Canada and their fans.)
The 2024 season has been a pleasant surprise, when one considers how disappointing last season was and the lackluster offseason moves that were made by the front office. Francisco Lindor has been fantastic and Jose Iglesias has been a revelation this year.
Because of the new qualification rules, the Mets have a chance for the postseason. At 50-47 they are ABOVE .500 and in the final wild card spot as of this writing. Hopefully, they continue their winning ways into the postseason (and a World Series title) and carry that momentum into next season when they face the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park.
