  • Re: Running

Im trying to get back into the habit of running again. Five years ago when everything was shut down during the “pandemic”, I had no place to workout except for the parks and playgrounds. A buddy of mine suggested that we start running together.

That decision turned into one of the best ones in my life. I started running frequently (3 to 4 times a week) in addition to my morning HIIT workouts. We would run all throughout Manhattan and some parts of the Bronx.

I got into in the best shape of my life, and I had some definition. I didn’t have a body fat measurement tool at the time, but I’m pretty sure that I was in the 10-13% body fat range.

(Here’s a visual guide to see what I’m referencing.)

Anyway I wrote this to say that I’m also incorporating a better diet. Before the run I had a quick snack of a banana with some honey on top of it. After the run, I had some Greek yogurt with some nuts and berries. I was inspired by this page: https://runtothefinish.com/eat-after-a-run/

Do you have a running schedule? Let me know or send them to me. I’m always on the lookout for better ideas.

  • Improving Stamina – Update No. 2

Update: I did this workout 2x this past week and got some decent results. This morning I ran at 10 mph for most of the working sets (6 of 8). The last two, I ran at 10.5 and 11 mph. I broke a sweat after my regular workout. I’ll report back with the 11.0 mph and see how that goes.

  • The Daily Prompt – No. 39

What’s the most fun way to exercise?

This answer may be based on the fact that I play basketball a lot but a good challenging game of 5 on 5 is a great workout. There’s nothing like jumping, cutting, shooting, shuffling, running, and sprinting, etc., all to put an orange ball through a hoop. I always tend to loose like 1 or 2 lbs from the cardio that I get from several games. Not that losing weight is a great metric of fitness but, man, it is a thrill and sometimes an exhausting feeling.

  • Staying Lean

    Attempting to Stay Lean

Today I was asked how I manage to stay lean and lose weight.  I am very honored to be asked this.  This was my answer:

    • Ask God for wisdom.  The process to lose weight is going to require a change in your current diet, exercise, and overall, your lifestyle.  All those changing pieces are dynamic because a change in lifestyle is going to affect those other factors mentioned before.  Some divine guidance would help tremendously.
    • Start working out and be consistent with the workout.  I have an athletic workout program that I follow that consists of supersets and is HIIT-focused.  It has a lot of variety and targets different parts of the body on different days.
    • Get into a caloric deficit and eat more protein.  The workout that you’re doing should be strenuous to get your body burning calories.  The diet should be sufficient enough to satisfy your body’s need for nutrition.

That’s it.  If there’s more or something that I missed, don’t hesitate to comment.

    I’m a Sponsored Athlete!

(First off let me say that I have a promocode now! Use JSOMEFUN at EPN Supplements to get 10% off your online order.)

This has been primarily a blog that showcases a particular image that has captured my attention. I tend to take a lot of pics with my phone. And this has not paid off for me… yet.  I’ll get there, soon enough.

However, one of my hobbies or passions is working out. I’m very thankful to God that I’m still active and in relatively good shape.  On my Instagram account, I post a story (or occasionally an actual post) of me or my buddies working out. I’ve been consistently doing this for about 5+ years. I also post images from Tough Mudders .(I’ve done eight so far) or from my basketball games (frequent player), or athletic event.

That hobby (or passion) has paid off. I recently became a sponsored athlete by EPN Supplements. It’s become a great opportunity and, again, I thank God and EPN for it.  EPN is an up and coming premium supplement brand that has really good products.  (Currently I’m trying the Immuno Greens.  I like what I’m consuming especially since I don’t consistently get enough fruits and veggies in my diet).

I’m believing that this will be the first of many endorsements and opportunities.  The best is yet to come.

  • Albert’s Push-Up Challenge

A friend of mine gave us a push-up challenge to complete for the next 30 days. On the first day do 3 sets of 25 push-ups. Then keep increasing the reps by 2, e.g., the second day would be 27 reps. The third day would be 29, and so forth until the 30th day.

Here it is in long form:

    25 x 3 = 75
    27 x 3 = 81
    29 x 3 = 87
    31 x 3 = 93
    33 x 3 = 99
    35 x 3 = 105
    37 x 3 = 111
    39 x 3 = 117
    41 x 3 = 119
    43 x 3 = 125
    45 x 3 = 131
    47 x 3 = 137
    49 x 3 = 143
    51 x 3 = 149
    53 x 3 = 155
    55 x 3 = 161
    57 x 3 = 167
    59 x 3 = 173
    61 x 3 = 179
    63 x 3 = 185
    65 x 3 = 191
    67 x 3 = 197
    69 x 3 = 203
    71 x 3 = 209
    73 x 3 = 215
    75 x 3 = 221
    77 x 3 = 227
    79 x 3 = 233
    81 x 3 = 239
    83 x 3 = 245

I just did my first set and I’m feeling it. Have fun doing this.
